However, the trends in these estimations of NASH and NAFLD prevalence are alarming and should not be ignored.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver condition in Western populations and is fueled by the obesity and type 2 diabetes epidemics.<sup>3-6<\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NASH prevalence is expected to increase by 63% between 2015 and 2030.<sup>7<\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NASH is expected to become the leading cause of liver transplantation in the United<br>States between 2020-2025.<sup>8<\/sup><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.waybackmachinedownloader.com\/scraping\/files\/live\/the-nash-education-program.com_georgenjenga69_yahoo.com_zyrp7w0mtc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/population.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PREVALENCE WORLDWIDE:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In a meta-analysis of several studies using various methodologies, worldwide prevalence of:<sup>8<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>NAFLD:&nbsp;<strong><em>25.2%<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NASH:&nbsp;<strong><em>1.5\u20136.45%<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Another study based on one of the largest databases in the United States (12,317 individuals) reported that 34% of the general adult population of the United States is affected by NAFLD, amounting to at least 43 million adults.<sup>10<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.waybackmachinedownloader.com\/scraping\/files\/live\/the-nash-education-program.com_georgenjenga69_yahoo.com_zyrp7w0mtc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/population.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PREVALENCE IN THE UNITED STATES:<sup>10, 11<\/sup><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>NAFLD:&nbsp;<strong><em>34%<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NASH:&nbsp;<strong><em>12%<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.waybackmachinedownloader.com\/scraping\/files\/live\/the-nash-education-program.com_georgenjenga69_yahoo.com_zyrp7w0mtc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/population.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PREVALENCE BY ETHNICITY IN THE UNITED STATES<sup>11<\/sup><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NAFLD:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Hispanics:&nbsp;<strong><em>58.3%<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Caucasians:&nbsp;<strong><em>44.6%<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Afro-Americans:&nbsp;<strong><em>35.1%<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.waybackmachinedownloader.com\/scraping\/files\/live\/the-nash-education-program.com_georgenjenga69_yahoo.com_zyrp7w0mtc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/population.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NASH prevalence:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Hispanics:&nbsp;<strong><em>19.4%<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Caucasians:&nbsp;<strong><em>9.8%<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.waybackmachinedownloader.com\/scraping\/files\/live\/the-nash-education-program.com_georgenjenga69_yahoo.com_zyrp7w0mtc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/pediatric.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PEDIATRIC NAFLD AND NASH<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fueled by the growing childhood obesity epidemic, NAFLD in children has become a major health concern for the medical community.
